Bows

bow shaping

It has been said (by Miles Hoffman) that the bow is to the violinist what the breath is to the singer. But oftentimes the importance of the bow is overlooked. The quality of factors such as balance, flexibility, strength, and weight are what separate excellent bows from mediocre ones. The modern bow, in materials and styling, has remained essentially unchanged for over 200 years - a testament to its refinement in form and function.

We offer for sale a collection of high-quality handmade bows for the discerning string player to choose from. As issues of individual preference mean that not every bow will work for every player, we are still confident that we have a bow that will work for you.
